The sun is out and so are the pollens. Prepare your body now for the spring season ahead. Natural therapies can help improve your immune response and tolerance to the elements.

The following are 6 tips to spring clean your body:

Spring clean your liver– The liver is the major detoxification organ in the body. There are 3 phases of detoxification. To support these phases, include in your diet the following – turmeric, broccoli, milk thistle, dandelion and globe artichoke.

Spring clean your bowels– Sweep clean your pipe works to ensure toxic waste elimination and reduce the build up of unwanted pathogens. Add psyllium husks, slippery elm or chia seeds to water or health smoothie to ensure a daily bowel movement.

Spring clean your immune system– Feed your immune system with essential nutrients and herbs for increased resilience. Include Rosehips, Astragalas, Ginseng, Reishi mushroom, Elderberry, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, zinc, vitamin D and probiotics daily to boost your immune response.

Spring clean your skin– The skin is the largest organ in our body. Improve the elimination of wastes via the skin pores to optimise circulation and release lymphatic congestion. Try dry brushing or make your own sugar scrub.

Spring clean your kidneys– The kidneys filter toxins, maintain acid/alkaline, fluid and electrolyte balance. To optimise the excretion of toxic waste increase water consumption to 2 litres/day (increase with exercise) and eliminate coffee and alcohol. Include herbal teas such as dandelion, nettle, parsley and horsetail.
